Silkscreening

One of our 2011 studio goals was to learn to silk screen, and be able to tackle small projects in our basement…aka “the Underground.”

Since none of us really had any experience screening, we called our friends over at OnPoint promotions to show us the ropes. Located in Lakewood, the team at OnPoint so graciously invited us over, had our artwork already “screened up” and showed us how to pull our ink through to imprint nicely onto our adorable little lunch bags.

If you’ve never tried it, silk screening truly is an art. The delicate balance of when to lightly press down vs when to increase pressure on the screen is like a well choreographed dance, a true talent.

This year one of our studio goals was to plant a small herb garden, watch seeds grown and use the harvest in our day to day summer cooking creations. It was a learning adventure all around. From starting little seeds in the chilly months, to moving our little sprouts out into the big outdoors, it was a little labor of love. Along with the obvious basil and chartreuse zinnia flowers we also planted a handful of beet and french radish seeds.  Continue reading

pretty green flowers

We love fresh flowers in the studio. Each of us have favorites, everything from the Stargazer Lilies, to Gerber Daisies to large green Chrysanthemums. From classic and pretty to modern with edge our floral style definitely reflects our style of design in the studio.
